Questions & Answers
Q: I am conducting a feasibility/requirements study into moving into a 24/7 operation. Have looked at this Scheduling spreadsheet. Brilliant ! One thing that would make things a lot easier would be the ability to edit the shift names, rather than use ddd-Day, or ddd-Late. When there are two late shifts in a day, it can become a little confusing. Any plans to address this in a future version?
A: Thanks for the feedback. On the shift names they are generic and at this stage redefining them is not on our development to do list. They were intended only as indicator labels and the shift is actually defined by its times. We do undertake specific development works for clients on a fee for service bases so if this feature was requirement it could be added.

Q: How I can have more than two shifts per day. The program only shows Day and Late shifts. I want to expand to 4 shifts per day. Is this possible? And how?
A: You can have as many shifts as you like. You can add them using the command button and simply input the start time and shift length as required. Shifts should be arranged in chronological order.

Q: I work in Vancouver, BC at one of the hospitals. We are very much interested in using a software program for our scheduling. One of our priorities though is that the software must be able to take the rotation requests from our residents and create a "best fit" schedule (As opposed to the chiefs having to manual determine who needs to go where, when, etc). Is your software able to do this?
A: Within the standard software there is no priority or request feature and a random process is applied to allocate staff to shifts which I do not think would meet your specific requirement.

Q: I am looking for a software scheduler that is capable of scheduling at least 12 weeks in advance. The scheduler needs to track the total hours per week and per quarter (12 weeks) to ensure that each employee gets the minimum required hours. The operation is run by 7 workers and is open 24/7. The scheduler needs to be able to differentiate between four different types of shifts eg. Night shift (12 hrs), Day shift (12 hrs) and Regular (8 hrs), and training 8 hours. If you company offers such a product please phone or email with a price quote and information on the product.
A: We do offer a Shift Scheduler that may suit. It will allow you to run a roster period of 12 weeks or set up a 1 week roster period and then roll this into following weeks to build your quarter. You can set up shifts to suit (ie your 4 different types). You can download the software and give it test in evaluation mode to see if it offers a solution to your specific needs. Full details are available at https://bizpep.com/shiftscheduler.html .
