Questions & Answers
Q: I am trying to make the Thank URL work, but with no luck. After sub-mission it returns to my original form but with no content, not to the URL I specified. Must I name the file Thankyou.html?
A: The thank you url can be any url you like. It should appear in the form processing script something like $thankurl = "http://www.mydomain.com/thankyou.html"; Make sure you are using the correct case and the file exists at the location url specified. If you continue to have difficulty send me a copy of your form as an email attachment and let me know the url of the form on your server and I will have a look for you.

Q: I am trying to use the model to determine how many service engineers I need to ensure an average customer time waiting and being served of 12 hours based on a 24 hour clock. I've tried the calculation with a time period of per hour and entered in 24 for the time period under consideration. (avg customer arrival rate is 1.02 and the service rate capacity it .03 per hour). The results I get indicate the average time spent by customer waiting & being served as 42.19 hours with an average waiting time of 13.27. If I understand this correctly, then it takes on average 28.92 hrs to serve the customer - having a difficult time understanding that?
A: From what you have said you have 24.48 customers arriving in 24 hours (1.02 customers/hour * 24) and you can serve 1 customer in 33 hours (1 / 0.03 ie 0.03 of a customer served per hour). Is this the case? If you continue to have difficulty send me a copy of your model with your input (and some detail) and I will have a quick look for you.

Q: I already have the program, but have a question about when selecting DAY as the basis for the calculation. Is the calculation based on an 8 hour or 24 hour day?
A: It is a 24 hour day. However as all results are expressed as a function of the Time Period selected it does not really matter. If you wanted to use Days and only worked 8 hours a day and input data for 8 hours, the results are expressed in relation to what a day is to you, in this case 8 hours. Results are given the unit of Day so an Average Time Spent by Customer of .5 Days is for you 4 hours (.5 * * hours). Therefore your output is directly related to the unit defined as input (although where possible it is probably best to use the simplest unit to minimize complexity).
