A: You can really use any curency unit you like as long as you are consistant. There are no different versions for different currencies however if you purchase a Commercial license I can provide an unprotected version in which you can make minor display adjustemnts to suit your requirements. The price of a Commercial license is 3 times a Non Commercial license ie a single user Commercial license is US$105.

Q: Using Mac OS X I can't find the Input sheet on your Breakeven analysis spreadsheet nor can I "unProtect" any worksheets?

A: To use the software macros must be enabled, some Mac systems do not support all the required macros and you will not be able to accces theinput sheet. The software should be run on Microsoft Excel.

Q: I'm using the trial version of the Pricing and Breakeven Analysis Excel 21 spreadsheet. In my industry our average price per unit is around $0.25-$0.27 per pound. In your spreadsheet the Price in the Current Operating Performance Data displays a "0" instead of 0.25 or 0.27. How can I get the spreadsheet to displace decimals so that I can see my values?

A: Use a unit that has no decimal places ie 1 unit is 100 items in this case input 25 or 27 and the result will be based on 100 units. Another way of looking at it is as using pence (cents) as the base input ie input 25 or 27 and the result is in pence. Please note thast all input and output must be of the same type so if you input 25 or 27 as pence then revenue / costs must also be in pence ie 1000000 pounds becomes 10000000 pence to display results for single units in pence.

Q: I tried to add a worksheet to my breakeven workbook and was not able to do so. Alternatively, I tried to copy my column of data for variable costs onto the data input sheet, but doing so was prevented by a password. Would unprotecting the data entry sheet or entering a new worksheet cause any problems? I'd like to save my data in the same file as the one where its analysis occurs.

Q: I am having a problem with determining which figures to use for a Break-Even Analysis in a non-profit organization. Fixed and Variable costs are not a problem. We need to figure out whether we should provide equipment services, or continue contracting the service out, and where the break-even point is. All of our costs are calculated on a per-patient-day basis. We bill only one amount to insurance or Medicare which is a per-patient-day figure. This covers all services, drugs, nursing, physicians, etc. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

A: Try calculating the break-even point for the service when you deliver it, to do this you will need to determine/apportion the component of your fee that relates to this service and apply the variable and fixed costs. If the contract fee is less than your breakeven then you should contract it out, if not do it in house.
