Questions & Answers
Q: Does the 'For URLs with' box allow, for example, index.php to be identified by the word 'index' or 'index.php' or does there have to be a word embedded in the page as body text or head or pre-head content?
A: The For URLs with value is a character combination included within a url ie if the url is For URLs with value then this will use all urls with index in them ie http:// www.mydomain.com/index.php or http:// www.mydomain.com/someotherindex.html etc. It only uses the url no page content to identify a match. So index.php will be identified by the word 'index' or 'index.php' but not 'index.html'.

Q: How do you set the priority of the domain default such as http:// www.mydomain.com/ as opposed to http:// www.mydomain.com/index.php ? I have set http:// www.mydomain.com/index.php as 1 by specifying For URLs with 'index' set priority as 1 but donâÃâ¬Ãâ¢t know how to set the priori ty of http:// www.mydomain.com which comes up as the default
A: To do this set the default value to 1 and then add broad matches to set other values ie For URLs with 'portfolio, php' Set Priority as '.7,.5'. This will apply a Priority 1 to http:// www.mydomain.com (and any other urls with no match), .7 to any urls containing portfolio and .5 to all other php urls (basically becoming the default). Keep in mind that the earlier settings are applied first so the portfolio setting must precede the php setting or portfolio.php will be set to the php setting not the portfolio setting.

Q: In your help file you say that the Dynamic output is not recommended for larger sites due to the time such a page may take to load. I assume part of the problem is that Google might time-out before it has loaded and will not index at all? Is there any rule of thumb to assess whether this is likely to happen? The dynamic option is attractive (and why I choose this tool) as once the sitemap.php file is in place it is not necessary to manually update the sitemap - the owner can just forget about it.
A: Dynamic SiteMap Code is not recommended for sites greater than 5,000 pages. However the time taken to run is dependent upon the structure of your site and server and the settings used in the sitemap generation ie depth, limit etc see https://bizpep.com/sitemapxml/ . In general test your setup using a Static Sitemap first and if it returns ok then use the same settings for your Dynamic Sitemap.

Q: Is it possible to dynamically assign priority values to different urls or will they always come out at one setting (which defeats the purpose)?
A: Yes priority can be dynamically assigned using the For URLs with and S et Priority as values see the Help file section at https://bizpep.com/sitemapxml/

Q: Does a single-use license allow a site map to be built for only one domain ?
A: Licensing is by user not domain. With a single user license your can use it for as many sites/domains as you like. The limitation is that it is only used by one person ie you.
