Q: I have several pages that no longer exist on my site and use 301 redirects to switch visitors to a comparable page on the site. Will your SiteMap generator exclude these pages? (OR, how does it handle 301 redirects?)
A: If the incorrect links (old pages) are not on any live pages on the site they will not be indexed. From the Start url the sitemap generator extracts the href value of anchor tags (links), and then extracts from the next page etc. So basically as long as the links on your site are current the correct pages will be indexed regardless of any old pages or redirects. You can give it a try using our online version at https://bizpep.com/sitemapxml/ . You can to see what would be returned if an old url was called using a Get Response in our Header Viewer at https://bizpep.com/http-header.php#viewer .
