Q: I want to do a Google SiteMap. I followed directions and ran the generator on my site. I uploaded the site as directed. I can easily see my sitemap when I go to the server and put in the path. However, your directions say it is a google format but it doesn't have a .xml extension. it is php. I submitted it to google, but don't think they'll take the php site because they specifically ask for xml.
A: Yes they will. The php file generates a valid xml output acceptable to Google (what you see when you call the file is an xml output). Google do not care what the file name is or the extension as long as the returned file is xml which is what is provided by the dynamic php script ie sitemap.php .
