Questions & Answers
Q: I can not get your software to perform a simple schedule. No matter what I do, it doesn't keep the shift parameters. I want it to show me the same 3 shifts over a period of 7 days, and it instead gives me start and end times of each shift so there is not continuation of shifts. It makes it impossible for me to even try to use the software for other shift variations. the help file isn't very helpful, it doesn't give me any help on trying to make a shift differential.
A: Set the shift times you want by inputting a shift start date and time and duration (blue cells and if require yellow cells). The default setting is for continuous shifts so if you set the first shift date time and duration (blue cells) then next shift times will be automatically set to follow on. If required you can also manually set the values for the following shifts (yellow cells), you can even manually input a start date/time the same as the end date time of the preceding shift to make it continuous. I am not sure what you mean by "..I want it to show me the same 3 shifts over a period of 7 days" but if you are trying to set up 3 shifts a day for 7 days then you need 21 shifts (7*3). So if you are starting with a clean reset roster (click Reset Roster) use Add Shift to add 16 shifts (5 are initially set up), and if you want them continuous simply input the first shift date time and duration (blue cells). You can then add any staff and shift requirements.

Q: I am evaluating your roster software and whilst it seems to be easy to use I am having difficulty in getting it to do what we need. We run a 28 day rotational roster which covers 7 days 24 hours per day with numerous positions. I need to write an 18 line (staff numbers for this particular section) which shows staff being 'spare' (over and above daily requirements). We have 8 days off and 1 programmed day off every 28 days. Is your system capable of providing this information?
A: Yes, add your 18 staff, input your shift requirements ie number of staff required per shift, set up your shifts (number of shifts/per day * 28, although initially it may be better to decrease this to shorter/smaller roster periods if possible). Use the Max hours to ensure staff can only work up to the required number of shifts in the roster period ie have 8 days off. On the 1 programmed day off if this is a set day for each staff member you can force a No work for the shift by inputting a N to manually set, see the Help file for details.

Q: We have a security company where our people work 3 day shifts, 3 night shifts and 3 days off (in this order - day, night and off), or any variation of this; example 3,2,4 or 4,3,4. Is it possible for your program to handle such cycles? A further request is that we have 2 sites where on the 1 site we have 6 people to schedule and on the other site 1 person but need a 8th person to fill up the schedules on both sites keeping in line with the cycles as far as possible.
A: The Shift Scheduler Continuous allocates shifts/staff randomly (to provide a balance) and individual staff settings cannot be set so I am not sure if your requirements can be meet. You can download the software and have a play to see if it suits from https://bizpep.com/shiftscheduler.html

Q: Currently it appears only a maximum number of shifts can be set for all staff, not for individuals. Is this so?
A: Yes, the settings apply to all staff. One possibility around this is to define different rosters for groups of staff with different requirements, however this is not always suitable.
