Q: I run a 3 shifts per day 24x7. The tool looks and works awesome. However I have two concerns.. The roster is for humans, it allocates emp1 on Monday for 8-16hrs shift and the same emp1 for a 00:00 to 08:00(midnight shift). Rotating like this is going to be difficult and my employee sleep cycles goes for a toss. I am wondering if there is something that can be done to make sure that the same employee stays in the allocated shift all thru the month? For exmaple, I would like emp1 to be in morning shifts all thru the month or at least 80% of the times? I also would like to spare one day of the weekend for every employee - how can I achieve this?
A: Using the Min Break Hrs you can force the allocation to include a 2 shift break ie if you have three 8 hour shifts per day set the Min Break Hrs as 16 this means that the next shift staff can work is the corresponding shift on the next day. You will also need to set the Max Cont Hrs as less than 2 shifts and equal to or greater than 1 shift ie in your case 8 hours, this only allows them to work 1 shift in a row. The 1 day off will need to be manually set by forcing a Yes or No work requirement by inputting a "Y" or "N" to mark a matrix cell before you Build Roster. See the Shift Details section of the Help file https://bizpep.com/shiftscheduler.html . hope this helps and thanks for the feedback.

Q: I would be very interested to purchase shift scheduler excel, but the demo version does not work under Excel 2007 (basically the macro buttons such as Add staff tc are not active). If i cannot test it to ensure it corresponds to my needs, i will not go ahead with an eventual purchase. Can you assist me in this? Thanks.
A: If you use the 2007/2010 .xlsm file in the download package and follow the instructions to Enable Macros using Excel 2010/2007 at https://bizpep.com/shiftscheduler.html you should be fine and macros will function.

Q: My current roster works on a 21 day period which repeats the pattern after the 3 weeks. Employees work 7 and 8 days straight but get the same number of weekends off etc.
A: You can add up to 150 shifts using the Add Shifts button. So in your case add the number of shifts required to give you a 3 week roster period and then use this as your base. See the Help file for details https://bizpep.com/shiftscheduler.html .

Q: Is there a way I can have more input tabs? I would like to have it so I can have a roster for team leaders, managers and so on. We will only need 1 of these to work the shift however we will need 5 other members during the shift.
A: The input template is not required with the newer version as all staff / shifts can be added directly to the roster matrix on the input sheet. To have a roster for team leaders simply save your roster file with a new name ie ShiftLeaders and you will have a template you can set up with team leaders instead of staff ie you will have 2 files one setup for staff and one setup for leaders.
